Mary Lamie

St. Louis Regional Freightway

Established as the St. Louis region’s go-to source for coordinating freight activity, the St. Louis Regional Freightway provides site selection and other assistance to manufacturing, logistics, and multimodal transportation companies and their service providers. As a business enterprise of Bi-State Development, the Freightway plays a critical role in the growth of our region’s manufacturing and distribution sector within the City of St. Louis and seven adjacent counties in Missouri and Illinois. The St. Louis Region offers a unique combination of competitive advantages unavailable anywhere else in the country.

St. Louis Regional Freightway Executive Director Mary Lamie is responsible for developing public-private partnerships to optimize the region’s freight transportation network and creating the foundation for planning, marketing and advocacy of the bi-state region as a national freight hub with international connectivity. To help drive economic growth, she works closely with manufacturing and logistics industry leaders and local, state and national public sector leaders. The Freightway is a leader in setting regional multimodal transportation priorities and advocating for transportation funding.

Mary has over 25 years of experience in transportation, engineering and management including 23 years with the Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT), with the last seven years as the Deputy Director of Highways Region 5 Engineer. During this time she was responsible for the development and implementation of the Region’s transportation program which included engineering, management and budgetary responsibilities.  

Mary holds a Master’s Degree in Civil Engineering from the Missouri University of Science and Technology, has a Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Missouri- Columbia and is a professional engineer.
