Advances in Supply Chain Design

Building a Supply Chain Design Team for End-to-End Supply Chain Optimization

 Michael Detampel

LLamasoft

Over the last several years, supply chain design has become a key business process for most leading companies. The reasons are many – rapidly changing market conditions, more frequent product roll-outs, growth into emerging markets, supply volatility and more. If you are not continuously redesigning your supply chain to address ever-changing market conditions and business strategies, you are at risk of falling behind your competitors. There is a strong and ever-increasing trend of companies utilizing modeling technology to continuously analyze, optimize, and simulate the end-to-end supply chain to improve service levels, identify major cost savings, reduce risk and react fast to market evolution.

In this session, LLamasoft VP Mike Detampel will share his observations on trends in supply chain design:

  • Learn how companies are organizing to support the business process of supply chain design
  • Learn four key modeling techniques used by many leading companies to “find” money in the supply chain
  • Hear real-life examples of how supply chain design has been used within leading global companies to identify significant cost and service-level improvements

Michael Detampel is Vice President of Solutions at LLamasoft, overseeing its Professional Services organization and supporting clients as an expert in Supply Chain Design. Michael’s career spans over 20 years of supply chain strategy and operations.

Prior to joining LLamasoft, Michael spent 18 years working with Fortune 1000 companies as a third party logistics provider and management consultant. He has extensive global experience in end-to-end supply chain design including technology architecture and implementation; network design; transportation; warehousing and distribution; sourcing and procurement; international trade and compliance; and reverse logistics. Michael has worked globally, including assignments in Europe Latin America and Asia.
